Memphis Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR)
The Memphis Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR) is one of Tennessee's largest local REALTOR® associations, encompassing Shelby, Fayette, Tipton, Hardin, Hardeman and McNairy Counties. Founded by eight charter members on November 1, 1910, MAAR celebrated its centennial in 2010. MAAR's focus is serving and representing real estate professionals as well as providing real estate information to the general public. Approximately 4,100 REALTORS® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATES® specializing in every aspect of the real estate profession—including residential, commercial, industrial, property management and appraisal services—hold membership in MAAR, representing approximately 400 firms. MAAR is governed by a President and a Board of Directors who are elected annually by the membership. Association members participate on various committees and task forces that meet regularly to handle issues relevant to the association and the real estate industry.
Created in 2003 by the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS®, the MAAR Commercial Council is committed to providing an organization specifically for the Memphis area commercial real estate community, including commercial developers, commercial brokers, commercial and affiliate brokers, property managers and other commercial real estate professionals. The MAAR Commercial Council is a self-governed, freestanding division of MAAR. It is overseen by its own Board of Directors, which itself is composed of commercial real estate leaders. Candidates for the Board of Directors are nominated and elected by the commercial real estate community at the annual Commercial Council election meeting in August, with the new Board members taking office the following January. In addition to the elected Directors, the Board of Directors also includes a member of the MAAR Board of Directors and the local chapter presidents of MAAR's Commercial Institute Affiliates: CCIM, IREM, SIOR and RLI.
The Council organizes education and other recognition programs throughout the year, including the annual Commercial Property Forecast Summit in February and the Pinnacle Awards in April. The Commercial Council Golf Tournament benefitting Make-A-Wish Foundation® is a great way to connect to the community and colleagues in the real estate industry. In November 2013, the National Association of REALTORS® presented the Council with an ACE (Accredited Commercial Excellence) Award for showing a commitment to not only the commercial REALTOR® members but to the community as well.

Designshop is nearing its 10-year anniversary. Since its opening in 2013, a great amount of change has taken place. What began as a small two and then three-person architecture firm has now grown into an open design studio of nine designers. Today, our team works eagerly to bring our client’s dreams to life. Through the years, designshop has chosen not to specialize in any one type of work.
Instead, we value the challenge of taking on new project types. Thus, our expertise is not in any specific scope of work, but rather in the process of researching and learning a specific project type to then create a unique design solution specific to the needs of our client. Our experience as a studio has grown significantly in the past few years. Building upon the 20+ years of experience each partner had prior to starting designshop.
Our services have now expanded, including in-house interior design, master planning, and urban redevelopment.
